Discussion Paper Response 30 September 2008 In July, we told you that HMRC had published a discussion paper, Tax Credits: Improving Delivery and Choice, and said that we wanted your views before issuing a reply. That's now been done, with our response compiled and submitted, on time, by Sarah. You can read the TCC Response to the Discussion Document here. The LITRG have also published a response. Their document, Tax Credits - First things first, gives an editorial overview - and you can read the extensive LITRG response here. 'When Tax Credits Go Bad' 4 September 2008 Over the past few weeks, TCC have been taking part in the production of a short film entitled 'When Tax Credits Go Bad', which has now been completed - and is excellent ! The film was made by John Stratford and Bill Ross, who are both volunteers with Helium Films - the name adopted by the voluntary project CSV Community Films. CSV Community Films is a joint undertaking between CSV and BBC Radio Sheffield, with the involvement of the BBC Big Screen project in Rotherham. Voluntary Action Rotherham is also associated with the project. The aim of the project is to produce films to support voluntary, community and faith sector organisations and groups in the South Yorkshire region, thus raising awareness and strengthening voluntary action in the region. It also aims to train young and disabled volunteers in video making. A huge thank-you to John Stratford, Bill Ross, Andy Kershaw and everyone who took part !! New Team Member 1 September 2008 We would like to welcome Lucy to the Tax Credit Casualties team, filling the volunteer role of Fundraising Officer that we have been advertising on the website for the past few months. With five years experience of fundraising, Lucy has an impressive and successful track record. Apart from running her own business, Lucy is a mother to four children - whilst studying for both 'A' levels and a Degree! Welcome to the team, Lucy! |

Tax Credit Casualties (TCC) is a voluntary, unfunded, not for profit
organisation run by members for members. We cannot take any responsibility for
decisions made by HMRC, The Parliamentary Ombudsman, The Adjudicator, or any

dispute unfair overpayments based on our own experiences, the experiences of
other claimants and HMRC guidelines.
