New Adjudicator Appointed 29 March 2009 It seems that a new Adjudicator, Judy Clements, has been appointed by HMRC. No, you didn't read that wrongly; a new Adjudicator has been appointed ..... by HMRC! Read, HMRC Appoint New Adjudicator, on Taxationweb. How on earth can the Adjudicator provide an 'independent investigation of complaints that HMRC are unable to resolve', when they are selected and appointed by HMRC themselves? How on earth can any authority be deemed independent when they use HMRC's own, biased, COP26 to make their decisions? Article 6 of the Human Rights Act states :
The important phrase there is 'independent and impartial'. So ..... let me see ..... appointed by HMRC ..... using HMRC's rules, COP26 ...... must be fair, independent and impartial, then! Maybe the Human Rights Act is allowed to slip in this case because we are all thought of as being 'benefit claiming scum'. Or maybe it's because we're a group of countries in which it's permitted, because we're led by a deranged megalomaniac who is followed by a bunch of moronic 'yes people' that have their noses buried so deep in the trough they don't notice! New P.A.C. Report 24 March 2009 A new Public Accounts Committee report on, 'HMRC: Tax Credits and Income Tax' has been released today. We'll be commenting on it as soon as we've read and absorbed it! Meanwhile, you can read it by clicking on the link below - some of the more interesting stuff can be found in the oral evidence section: Have a good read! LabourSpace, the WastaSpace! 17 March 2009 You've probably noticed that we have gone a bit quiet about our campaign on the LabourSpace website. The reason for this is that we've discovered a few, well ..... 'suspect goings on' with the voting figures. To be honest, the voting figures quite simply don't add up or make any sense, and it's taken us a week or so to decide what we are going to do about it. Let me explain. Go to just about any campaign on the site, and take a look at the box that says 'What people think of this campaign' - here is a screenshot from ours on Sunday 8th March:
'Nothing wrong with that', you might think! But there is ..... there really, really is! The 93 votes for our campaign are spot-on. It's the 180 votes illustrated for the leading campaign that's the problem. Why? Well, you have to go to the section of the campaign page that shows 'Supporters'. Click on the 'View all' button. Then count the number of supporters. At the time the screenshot on the left was taken, the number of supporters for the leading campaign was actually only 145. Now, the votes shown are supposed to be equal to the number of supporters minus those who oppose the campaign. For the leader, this turns out to be (145 supporters - 55 opponents) = 90 votes. (The 55 opponents can be seen in the news at the bottom of the 'leaders' campaign page - it says they now have 50 opponents, and then there are 5 more opponents above that). So, thanks very much - TCC are winning! We decided to do a complete comparison for all of the campaigns on the LabourSpace site. The results are shocking, to say the least. In almost all of the campaigns, the number of votes shown bear absolutely no resemblance to the number of supporters, or opponents, that are recorded. The ranking for each campaign is totally wrong, too. In all honesty, for this site to call itself a 'campaign' website is somewhat akin to Gordon Brown being called a 'leader'. It's an absolute travesty of democracy. The fact that this is a Labour Party website, however, won't come as any surprise. Yes, I know they've got disclaimers on LabourSpace, but it's linked to from the Labour Party site, carries the Labour Party logo and has comments from Ed Milliband MP. As I've said before .... if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and talks like a duck - then it's a duck. Every time! And this is a Labour Party website .... There are many other things wrong with the site and it's management too. The RSS feeds don't work. Campaigners have to register with their name address and telephone number - only to be told that they are 'being approved'. Want to e-mail all of your friends about the campaign - no problem, just give us your e-mail password! There are errors everywhere! The only contact e-mail address on the site is abuse@labourspace.com - an e-mail address that has to be present for some internet providers to allow mail sent from the site to be delivered to customers. Despite that, we have sent e-mails to webmaster@labourspace.com , (which should exist), and have had no response whatsoever. Over two weeks ago, we submitted a change of name for our campaign - and we are still waiting for it to be done. Maybe it was because we changed the name to 'Justice is an Amnesty for Tax Credit Overpayment Victims' - of course, Labour wouldn't want to be embarrassed about anything to do with Tax Credits, would they? As we know, everything in Tax Credit Land is absolutely hunky-dory, isn't it! If we now tell you that LabourSpace isn't new, and this January was it's THIRD launch ..... well, you can see what we're up against, can't you! They can't get it right after three tries, and aren't interested in receiving or responding to e-mails. Seem like Labour aren't listening! But we're now going to try and prove a point, and carry on with the campaign. If everyone votes, we can show them that we won't be beaten just because they fix the figures. You can register and vote at http://www.labourspace.com/view_campaign?CampaignId=125 Don't let us down, please. This is now more important than ever. New Date For 'Tonight' Show 16 March 2009 The ITV show 'Tonight - with Trevor McDonald' has been re-scheduled from this evening, and will now be broadcast on Monday 6th April. ITV have said that this is to fit in with the start of the new tax year! TCC Dispatched From Channel 4's 'Dispatches' 9 March 2009 Tax Credit Casualties were due to
be a part of tonight's Channel 4's Dispatches
programme ('How They Squander Our Billions' -
8pm), but a few days ago we received an e-mail
from them telling us that TCC had been cut from
the final programme. The reason given was; “the
producer thought there were too many people who
had been affected by tax credits in the film,
whereas our film is about Government waste”. Unfortunately, this is part of the tax credit 'trap' - there are literally millions of overpayment victims, but because our 'debt' is to the state we don’t, and aren’t given the opportunity to, elicit the sympathy and unity of the general population. One day, it will happen ..... we just have to try enough times, and not give up. The next scheduled TV coverage for TCC is on ITV's 'Tonight - with Trevor McDonald' on 16th March. Wonder if we'll be disappointed again? Keep campaigning! LabourSpace Campaign - Part 5 3 March 2009 Thank you to Ali for today's LabourSpace blog entry. Here it is: http://www.labourspace.com/view_message?type=Campaign&id=82 . Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. If you're reading this and you haven't voted for us yet, please go to http://www.labourspace.com/view_campaign?CampaignId=125 and give us a big 'thumbs up'. Then ask everyone you know to do the same! You know what to do. Make change happen! LabourSpace Campaign - Part 3 1 March 2009 Spreading the word on Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Twitter and any other site that you can think of will make sure that we have overwhelming support - and send the biggest message possible to LabourSpace viewers, and the Labour Party. And of course, that means the Government too. If you don't know how, ask your teenagers to do it for you - they will love actually being told to rebel, for a change! It will also teach them that there is an alternative to being walked all over, and that enough people power can, and does, get things changed. What a wonderful thing for a young adult to learn .... Today's LabourSpace blog entry is here: http://www.labourspace.com/view_message?type=Campaign&id=81 . You know what to do. Make change happen! |
